Simon Property Group is expanding Orlando Premium Outlets – Vineland Ave.
The outlet center will add 80,000 square feet, bringing the center to 630,000 square feet.
It’s too early to say what stores will get added, since the mall has not yet leased space. Not only will new stores open, but existing ones can expand, said Michele Rothstein, a spokeswoman for Simon’s outlet division. “You’re going to see a little bit of musical chairs going on” as stores move around, she said. Construction will begin sometime next year.
Simon is expanding three other centers – Desert Hills Premium Outlets in Cabazon, Calif.; Chicago Premium Outlets and Seattle Premium Outlets.
With annual sales exceeding $1,300 a square foot, Orlando Premium Outlets has continued to thrive despite the difficult economy. In 2008, the outlet center completed an expansion project that added 40 new stores in 114,000 square feet of space on its east side.
Simon last year took over the old Prime Outlets – Orlando on International Drive, renaming it Orlando Premium Outlets – International Dr.
Millenia mall changes
Z Gallerie recently moved out of Mall at Millenia and into a nearby shopping center. Meanwhile, the mall is getting some new tenants. Henri Bendel, an accessories store, will open in the old Nine West that closed earlier this year. Art of Shaving, a barbershop that sells men’s shaving products, will open in the old Rocks Fine Jewelry.
Meanwhile, Banana Republic and Gucci are both being renovated.
